The Sisters of Saint Joseph sponsor Cecilian Village, an affordable housing site located in McSherrystown, Pennsylvania. The housing is available to residents aged 62 and over, who are in good physical and mental health, and able to manage their home and utilities without support. The Department of Housing and Urban Development recognizes their income as "very low". Rent is calculated at 30% of their income, and a security deposit equal to one month's rent is required. Every apartment has electric heating and air conditioning, a stove, a refrigerator, and wall-to-wall carpeting. Storage is limited to closets in the apartment, and there is coin-operated laundry and trash chutes on each floor except the first. Cecilian Village consists of 49 one-bedroom apartments, and tenants can also enjoy planned activities, inter-generational programs, and personal visits by the staff. In addition, they can participate in other spiritual, social, and physical activities nearby. Parking is limited, and the elevator is easily accessible.
