About This The Meadows Apartments for Seniors
The Meadows Apartments cater to Senior citizens by providing affordable housing. This is made possible through the support of Sections 202 and 8 of the National Housing Act. These sections enable the complex to offer reduced rentals to elderly individuals with extremely low or very low incomes. The complex comprises 120 one-bedroom apartments and has specific eligibility requirements. Applicants must be 62 years and older, or if married, at least one spouse must meet this age requirement. Additionally, handicapped and disabled individuals identified by the U.S. Department of HUD may also apply. Income levels must fall within the limits established by the U.S. Department of HUD, and rentals are based on 30% of monthly income. For more information on eligibility and rates, contact The Meadows Apartments at (570) 675-6936. This apartment also accepts HUD subsidies, and rent is based on 30% of your Adjusted Gross Income if you qualify for low income housing and there are available apartments.
How to apply
Public housing is a form of housing tenure in which the property is usually owned by a government
authority, either central or local. The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department
addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding
projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed
income levels.
