About This Pottsville Housing Authority
The Housing Authority of The City of Pottsville (PHA) has a mission to ensure that everyone has access to affordable housing and a suitable living environment that is free from discrimination. This is achieved through the federal Public Housing program, which provides rental housing assistance to eligible low-income families, the elderly, and people with disabilities. PHA owns and manages all units within a single community, including multi-family developments, high-rise apartment buildings, and mid-rise buildings.
Residents of public housing pay no more than 30% of their adjusted gross income for rent and basic utilities. PHA manages approximately 509 rental housing units in Pottsville and selects residents based on their completion of the application process, their position on the waiting list, their satisfaction of various eligibility criteria, including income eligibility, housekeeping, rental history, criminal history, and financial responsibility.
