About This Venango County Housing Authority
The main purpose of the Housing Authority of the County of Venango (VCHA) is to offer secure, livable, and reasonably priced housing to families with lower incomes, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities. VCHA assists people in this category by contributing a portion of their rent, making it possible for them to afford housing that meets their needs. Families with no income may also be eligible for VCHA's services. VCHA has a contract with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to administer two programs. These programs are: 1. Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8): The Housing Choice Voucher Program allows participants to choose a suitable house, apartment, townhouse, or mobile home within the Venango County area, with the exception of Oil City and Franklin (which have their own housing authorities). In order to qualify, participants must meet certain income limits and have no history of certain criminal offenses or past default. The landlord must also agree to participate in the program and their property must pass a Housing Quality Standards inspection. If you require housing assistance in the Venango County area, please contact the Housing Authority directly to learn more about eligibility criteria, waiting lists, and application procedures. You can reach VCHA by calling (814) 432-9751.
