Tanglewood Apartments is a housing complex that caters to low income individuals who meet the qualifying criteria. The location of the complex is conveniently situated half a block from the downtown area and across from an active Senior Citizens Center. It is also situated within walking distance to a bank, grocery store, and a few churches. Moreover, it is a short drive away from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, which provides educational opportunities, sports events, drama productions, and art displays. The Turtle Creek Mall, located off Red Wolf Boulevard, offers shopping opportunities. Joe Mack Campbell Park is a recreational park situated nearby and is one of the largest in north Arkansas. Furthermore, St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center and NEA Hospital are located a few minutes away from Tanglewood, along with several other medical clinics, physicians, specialists, dentists, ophthalmologists, and other medical services. Tanglewood Apartments comprises of 12 one-bedroom units that feature carpeted flooring throughout, except for the kitchen and bathroom, mini-blinds, central heat and air, as well as a range and refrigerator. Each apartment has its own washer and dryer hook-up, and there is a coin-operated laundry facility located in the Community Building. A Site Manager lives on the premises, providing 24-hour emergency services. The Office and Community Building is an old historical home that belonged to Doctor Smith, who lived and practiced medicine in the building constructed in 1903. The upstairs residence is occupied by the Site Manager, while the downstairs facilities are reserved for the residents. The facilities available for residents include a large community room, dining room, full kitchen, and a computer room with two computers reserved exclusively for the residents, with no charge for internet access. The Site Manager is available to offer computer assistance free of charge upon request. Tanglewood Apartments is exclusively reserved for individuals who are 62 years or older, and one unit is designed specifically for people with mobility issues. Rent is calculated based on income, and medical expenses are an allowable deduction. The rent includes all utilities, except for telephone and cable TV.
