Volunteers of America of Florida, a nonprofit organization, runs the program and measures its success through outcomes, including 100% of participants engaging in meaningful and volunteer activities. Amenities include single unit dwellings with roommates, case management, training and employment assistance, and basic utilities. Additional services include rental assistance, laundry facilities, a computer lab, Bible study, substance abuse and mental health counseling, and physical health activities. Eligibility requirements include being a Veteran with a General, Other, or Honorable Discharge, having served at least one day of active duty post-training, and being homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Participants must follow program rules and guidelines, and pay a monthly program fee if applicable. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).
How to apply
Public housing is a form of housing tenure in which the property is usually owned by a government
authority, either central or local. The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department
addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding
projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed
income levels.
