SOME offers a safe and drug-free environment for low-income homeless individuals who require long-term temporary housing. Single rooms are provided for men and women who do not have children or pets, and who have a stable source of income. Home visits take place in Mount Pleasant. The impact of a safe and stable environment on our clients is significant: almost 90% of CERTAINS clients who live in safe and decent homes remain sober, employed, and healthy for at least a year. This is why SOME has been providing affordable, safe housing and support programs for the homeless and poor for 19 years, helping over 3,200 family members and individuals find homes. For single homeless adults, SOME provides affordable facilities and single rooms. Tenants must sign a renewable annual lease agreement and pay rent and maintenance costs. The rent is based on 30% of the resident's income, allowing them to save for future self-sufficient living. Residents must follow house rules, stay sober, and pay rent on time. For homeless families, SOME offers decent and affordable apartments for those in extreme poverty. Since 2005, SOME has opened three new affordable housing programs for 43 families, complete with playgrounds and community spaces for the approximately 150 children living in our family homes. All families and single adults receive case management and other social services to help them become even more independent and self-sufficient.
