About This Bath Street Apartments
There are 11 two-bedroom apartments and 1 one-bedroom apartment available at affordable prices. These units are a part of the Santa Barbara Community Housing Corporation, a non-profit organization established in 1975. The organization has developed over 700 housing units for low or moderate-income individuals in our county, and has earned a reputation for being stable and innovative. SBCHC collaborates with both public and private housing partners to finance its projects, and has recently created housing options for individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities who may not be able to afford housing otherwise.
SBCHC is governed by a volunteer board of directors, and its day-to-day activities are overseen by the Executive Director and a professional staff of sixteen individuals. Each property has its own budget and corporate entity within SBCHC's administrative umbrella. The organization manages 14 multi-family properties with over 300 units and around 500 residents. SBCHC operates four main housing programs.
How to apply
Public housing is a form of housing tenure in which the property is usually owned by a government
authority, either central or local. The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department
addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding
projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed
income levels.
