About This Palo Alto Senior Housing Project
The Palo Alto Senior Housing Project aims to create a nurturing environment that promotes self-esteem, independence, and overall well-being for seniors. This affordable housing option in Palo Alto is designed specifically for independent seniors. Stevenson House, where the project is located, is a community that values diversity and celebrates different cultures, races, and nationalities. The residents are active and engaged, participating in a variety of programs and services that encourage healthy living and mental stimulation. These programs include international celebrations, computer-based activities, gardening, Tai Chi and biking, book and thespian clubs, exercise classes, music and singing parties, lively discussion groups, intergenerational learning with students, and visits from therapy dogs. Full dinners are served Monday through Friday in the dining room, with two menu options available to meet different dietary needs. Residents can choose to participate in the meal program for an additional cost. A weekday lunch program is also available for a nominal fee. The City of Palo Alto provides a free shuttle service to downtown and the Stanford Shopping Center, and outreach transportation options are available for seniors with limited mobility. Stevenson House also offers 24-hour emergency assistance, with emergency call systems in each apartment. Translation services are available for Russian, Chinese, and Spanish speakers. Special equipment, such as grab bars and shower chairs, can be installed upon request.
