New Harmony is an affordable housing community that offers 69 units, including one, two, and three bedroom apartments that are all wheelchair accessible or adaptable. It is also one of the first developments of Mutual Housing to be certified as green, meeting the standards of the Build It Green program. The community provides affordable living options for working families and individuals with limited incomes.
Residents of New Harmony have access to a range of on-site amenities, including a playground, basketball court, community room, and free high-speed internet. Additionally, there is a community garden and access to the Davis bike path and green belt.
The property is built to high green design standards and features solar photovoltaic panels, energy-efficient apartments, and environmentally friendly interior finishes. The solar panels at New Harmony are capable of producing electricity that is equal to at least 80 percent of the community's electrical use, significantly reducing utility bills for residents and the nonprofit owner. As with all Mutual Housing communities, residents benefit from their own resident council and leadership opportunities, as well as a Mutual Housing community organizer and on-site programs for children and adults.
