About This Mission Gardens Santa Cruz Apartments
Mission Gardens is a community that offers affordable housing for families and seniors. The apartments come in 1, 2, and 3-bedroom options, and are primarily intended for low to very low-income households. The financing for this project was made possible through a combination of tax-exempt bond financing from Prudential Mortgage Capital, credit enhancement from Freddie Mac, and Low Income Housing Tax Credits from Union Bank. The City of Santa Cruz also provided additional financing. As part of a recent renovation, Mission Gardens received several upgrades, including new roofs, paint, energy-efficient windows and patio doors, gas furnaces, signage, improvements to paving and site accessibility, and repairs to non-conforming grade conditions. Kitchens and bathrooms were also revamped with new cabinets, countertops, appliances, plumbing fixtures, flooring, and energy-efficient lighting. To further enhance the lives of residents, a new community room, computer learning center, and leasing office were added. Qualified households may also be eligible for Section 8 units. However, please note that most apartments have waiting lists, and all adult incomes are verified at the time of application.
