About This Perry S. Hall Apartments
There is a building that houses 12 reconstructed garden apartments, which are comprised of 6 one-bedroom units, 4 two-bedroom units, and 2 three-bedroom units. The building has been updated with new vinyl siding, shutters, and bay windows to replace the previous cinder block exterior. The apartments are equipped with central A/C, a laundry room, and a tot lot. The location of the building is at 2912 South 17th Street, Arlington, VA. The previous building, Christine Apartments, was constructed in 1952 using cinder block on a concrete slab, which made it an unattractive addition to the community. In January 1986, Wesley Housing purchased the property for $250,000 and completely reconstructed all units, including the roof, hot water system, individually metered heating and cooling, energy efficient windows, kitchens, bathrooms, and flooring. The renovation cost $485,000 and was completed in March 1987. The complex was renamed Perry S. Hall Apartments to honor Mr. Perry S. Hall for his contributions to obtaining water, sewer, and lights for the Nauck neighborhood. Wesley Housing celebrated its ownership of the building in June 10, 2003, and marked the occasion with a "Mortgage Burning" party.
