About This Pecan Place Apartments for Seniors

This apartment complex is designated for low-income individuals and families, and receives direct government funding to offer lower rent rates. It is specifically designed for seniors aged 62 and older, or those with mobility impairments. The community consists of ten buildings on a three-acre site, with some buildings containing cottage-style apartments and others featuring longer, side-by-side apartments. There is also a laundry room, community room, and office/apartment for the manager. Residents can take advantage of the para-transit shuttle, which provides transportation to grocery stores, shopping areas, banks, medical appointments, and downtown areas. They can also participate in RHFs Project H.A.N.D.S. and work with a Social Service Coordinator for their personal needs. Pets are welcome with a deposit and size limitations, and the community is smoke-free. The studio and one-bedroom apartments include a bathroom with safety features, a full kitchen, individually controlled heat and air conditioning, smoke detectors, carpeting, and window treatments. Building amenities include an on-site laundry room, individual indoor mailboxes, ample lighting on the grounds, cottage-style homes, patios, raised gardens for vegetables and flowers, convenient shuttle transportation, on-site management and maintenance staff, and a service coordinator. If you are interested in living here, you can contact the complex directly to see if you qualify and apply. They accept HUD subsidies, and if you qualify for low-income housing and they have available apartments, your rent will be based on 30% of your Adjusted Gross Income. One-bedroom apartments are available, but there may be a waiting list.

How to apply

Public housing is a form of housing tenure in which the property is usually owned by a government authority, either central or local. The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed income levels.
