The Ecumenical Housing Limited Partnership (EHLP) owns and runs the Maple City Apartments, while the Ecumenical Enterprises, Inc. (EEI), a non-profit corporation, manages the apartments. The complex consists of 40 one-bedroom apartments that are subsidized by Sections 202 and 8 of the National Housing Act, specifically for elderly individuals with low, very low, and extremely low incomes. To be eligible for residency, applicants must be 62 years of age or older, or one spouse in the case of a married couple must be 62 years or older. Additionally, handicapped and disabled persons identified by the U.S. Department of HUD may also qualify. The applicant's income must adhere to the limits established by the U.S. Department of HUD. All applicants must also agree to the terms of a written lease and related building regulations set by EEI and the U.S. Department of HUD. The selection process follows the above criteria without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. Rentals include all utilities, except for air conditioning and cable TV, which are available at an extra cost. The apartment features a community room, off-street parking, 24-hour emergency maintenance service, coin-operated laundry, and fire and smoke detectors.
