About This Independence Park for the Disabled
Independence Park is a 10-unit apartment complex designed specifically for individuals and families who are dealing with chronic mental illness and are in need of low-cost housing. The Community Counseling Center of Mercer County and The Behavioral Health Commission, Inc. of Mercer County provide essential support services to tenants. The development was made possible through funding from Housing and Urban Development (HUD). If you meet the criteria for low-income housing and are interested in living at Independence Park, please contact us for availability and complete details on low-rent, subsidized government housing. HUD subsidies are accepted, and rent is based on 30% of your Adjusted Gross Income if you qualify for low-income housing and if apartments are available. We offer both 1 and 2 bedroom apartments at this location. For more information, please call (724) 342-6229.
How to apply
Public housing is a form of housing tenure in which the property is usually owned by a government
authority, either central or local. The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department
addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding
projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed
income levels.
