About This East Bay Housing Organizations
EBHO, a non-profit membership organization, is committed to preserving, protecting, and expanding affordable housing opportunities in Alameda and Contra Costa counties through advocacy and education. Originally established as the Oakland Housing Organizations in 1984, EBHO has grown over the years to include both Alameda and Contra Costa counties. As the sole organization of its kind in the East Bay, EBHO has become a prominent and unifying force within the affordable housing community, earning national recognition.
How to apply
Public housing is a form of housing tenure in which the property is usually owned by a government
authority, either central or local. The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department
addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding
projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed
income levels.
