The agency provides affordable and safe housing for eligible households in Lake County. They have 240 units which include 100 single units for seniors aged 62 and above, and those with disabilities, at Jackson Towers in Painesville. Another 70 single units for seniors aged 62 and above, and those with disabilities, are available at Washington Square in Painesville. The agency also has 70 family units at Woodlawn Homes in Painesville. To help low-income individuals and families in Lake County gain access to decent, safe, and sanitary housing, the agency administers Federal funds through two programs: Low-Income Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8). The office hours are from Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-6:00pm, and Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm. Interested applicants can walk-in or call to request an application to be mailed to them. For elderly or handicapped clients who have trouble with transportation, a representative may fill out the application for them. However, due to high demand, there is currently a waiting list of one to two years for this service.

How to apply

Public housing is a form of housing tenure in which the property is usually owned by a government authority, either central or local. The federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed income levels.
