About This California Coalition For Rural Housing Project
The California Coalition for Rural Housing is dedicated to ensuring that individuals living in rural and low-income areas of California have access to decent, safe, and affordable housing. The Coalition works with various levels of government to advocate for housing policies that benefit these communities. Additionally, they provide technical and organizational support to community groups and non-profit agencies and educate the public on housing issues. Through their Tenant Organizing and Education programs, the Coalition has successfully prevented the conversion of hundreds of affordable rental units into market-rate housing. The Coalition also offers the Rural California Internship Program, which supports culturally and linguistically diverse university students from rural communities. Lastly, the Coalition organizes the annual Rural Housing Summit, which brings together advocates to develop a unified legislative and advocacy agenda.
