The Paterson NJ Public Housing Authority Senior Apartments consist of 96 apartments, which are only available to qualified applicants. To be considered qualified, the head of household must be a citizen or eligible non-citizen, and the annual income at the time of admission must not surpass the very low income limits established by HUD. Furthermore, the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998 allows PHAs to admit families whose income does not exceed the low-income limit, provided the HA has met the annual 40% targeted income required of extremely low income families. All family members age 6 and older must have a Social Security number, or provide written certification that they do not have one. Additionally, applicants must comply with the tenant Selection and Suitability Criteria, including attending and successfully completing the PHA's pre-occupancy class.
