Crestview Village Apartments, built in 1968 under the HUD Section 236 program, provides affordable housing options for families in Kankakee. The property was troubled by the year 2000, but was purchased by POAH in 2005 through a complex layering of financial subsidy, including State of Illinois Donation Credits. POAH invested over $5 million in capital improvements, including renovated apartments with new kitchens, baths, heating and cooling systems, paint, floor tile, closet shelving and blinds. The exterior was also improved with new rooflines, lighting, trees, and a rebuilt playground. This apartment accepts HUD subsidies and rent is based on 30% of your Adjusted Gross Income if you qualify for low income housing. There are 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments available.
