About This Savannah Gardens Apartments
Savannah Gardens is a newly redeveloped community situated in the historic district of Savannah. The project involved the renovation of Strathmore Estates, a 44 acre site that previously consisted of 380 units of substandard rental housing located on the east side of Savannah. Mercy Housing, along with CHSA Development and the City of Savannah, partnered to bring this community back to life. The original development dates back to the 1940s. Phase I of Savannah Gardens, completed in December 2011, includes 115 units of affordable family housing and a spacious public park at the heart of the community. This project is an EarthCraft Costal Community, ensuring sustainable development and energy efficiency throughout the entire Savannah Gardens project.

addressed concerns of distressed properties and blighted superblocks with revitalization and funding
projects for the renewal of public housing to decrease its density and allow for tenants with mixed
