The following programs provide assistance and support to those in need of transitional housing: - Mathew's Place offers 11 apartment units for long-term transitional housing to homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Funded through the HUD Housing for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) program, Mathew's Place provides a variety of services including support groups, computer classes, GED preparation, case management, and meals for residents. Over 600 individuals have been served since its establishment in 1994. - Luke's Place is a 25-bed facility that houses men recovering from chemical dependence or who have been referred by the correctional system as an alternative to incarceration. The program includes support groups, family education, relapse prevention counseling, and a recovery activity center. Certified addiction counselors, peer support counselors, and volunteers staff the program. Since its establishment in 1994, more than 2750 men have benefited from the program. - Ruth's Place is a transitional housing facility designed for women recovering from chemical dependencies. In cooperation with the Salvation Army-Detox and the Atlanta Ladies Union Mission, Ruth's Place provides life-management support services, counseling, medical care coordination, job training, and part-time assignments to enhance their skills. Since its inception in 1992, over 575 women have been served. - Joba's Christian Recovery Home provides long-term substance recovery services and housing for men with minor disabilities. Residents receive legal assistance, social support, counseling services, and medical/mental health referrals. Since its establishment in May 2002, 16 individuals have benefited from the program.
